Summary
This topical text locates Student Voice within wider current debates around empowered citizenry and the 'big society'. The contributions draw upon the relationships between Student Voice and action research, citizenship, democratic education and students-as-researchers as well as locating these debates within international perspectives. It is through the combination of these perspectives that, as the title of the book suggests, the Student Voice movement can hope to 'bridge the academic/practitioner divide'.

Summary
The jali--a member of a hereditary group of Mandinka professional performers--is a charismatic but contradictory figure. He is at once the repository of his people's history, the voice of contemporary political authority, the inspiration for African American dreams of an African homeland, and the chief entertainment for the burgeoning transnational tourist industry. Numerous journalists, scholars, politicians, and culture aficionados have tried to pin him down. This book shows how the jali's talents at performance make him a genius at representation--the ideal figure to tell us about the "Africa" that the world imagines, which is always a thing of illusion, magic, and contradiction.

Summary
This book is the product of the editors' collected submissions of work from the art therapy community. The poems, works of visual art, and accompanying essays presented herein are truths that have been experienced within the art therapy context. Each of the contributing poets in this work submitted three poems for consideration. Two art therapists were selected to evaluate these poems and select ten poems to receive visual art responses. Each poet's section begins with a biographical sketch and a picture of the art therapist. A statement is given by each poet that serves to anchor and give context to the poet's work. Preliminary analysis of these writings suggest five modes of artistic inquiry. These modes are self-exploration and reflection, documentation of therapeutic work, a method of responsive interaction with clients, a form of spiritual practice, and a way to clarify and contain the art therapist's feelings that surface in therapeutic work. Comments are included on motivations for writing, inspiration, the significance of works in the text, and how poetry writing is incorporated in their personal and professional lives. Word Pictures: The Poetry and Art of Art Therapists is an effort to give voice to the poetic underpinnings of an art therapist's identity.

Summary
QoS, short for quality of service, is one of the most important goals a network designer or administrator will have. Ensuring that the network runs at optimal precision with data remaining accurate, traveling fast, and to the correct user are the main objectives of QoS. The various media that fly across the network including voice, video, and data have different idiosyncrasies that try the dimensions of the network. This malleable network architecture poses an always moving potential problem for the network professional. The authors have provided a comprehensive treatise on this subject. They have included topics such as traffic engineering, capacity planning, and admission control. This book provides real world case studies of QoS in multiservice networks. These case studies remove the mystery behind QoS by illustrating the how, what, and why of implementing QoS within networks. Readers will be able to learn from the successes and failures of these actual working designs and configurations. *Helps readers understand concepts of IP QoS by presenting clear descriptions of QoS components, architectures, and protocols *Directs readers in the design and deployment of IP QoS networks through fully explained examples of actual working designs *Contains real life case studies which focus on implementation.
