Summary
An important and prolific playwright, Philip Barry wrote hit plays such as The Philadelphia Story and Holiday. However, he has been largely forgotten and no book-length analysis of his work has appeared in more than forty years. With this book, Donald R. Anderson rescues the playwright from obscurity. Although Barry's successes were with comedies of manners, he also wrote dramatic and experimental works. Anderson analyzes all of Barry's plays (twenty-one in total) and questions the traditional characterization of the American playwrig.

Summary
Appetites for Thought offers up a delectable intellectual challenge: can we better understand the concepts of philosophers from their culinary choices? Guiding us around the philosopher's banquet table with erudition, wit, and irreverence, Michel Onfray offers surprising insights on foods ranging from fillet of cod to barley soup, from sausage to wine and coffee. Tracing the edible obsessions of philosophers from Diogenes to Sartre, Onfray considers how their ideas relate to their diets. Would Diogenes have been an opponent of civilization without his taste for raw octopus? Would Rousseau have been such a proponent of frugality if his daily menu had included something more than dairy products? Onfray offers a perfectly Kantian critique of the nose and palate, since "the idea obtained from them is more a representation of enjoyment than cognition of the external object." He exposes Nietzsche's grumpiness-really, Nietzsche grumpy?-about bad cooks and the retardation of human evolution, and he explores Sartre's surrealist repulsion by shellfish because they are "food buried in an object, and you have to pry them out." A fun romp through the culinary likes and dislikes of our most famous thinkers, Appetites for Thought will intrigue, provoke, and entertain, and it might also make you ponder a bite to eat.

Summary
'Advanced Engineering Dynamics' bridges the gap between elementary dynamics and advanced specialist applications in engineering. It begins with a reappraisal of Newtonian principles before expanding into analytical dynamics typified by the methods of Lagrange and by Hamilton's Principle and rigid body dynamics. Four distinct vehicle types (satellites, rockets, aircraft and cars) are examined highlighting different aspects of dynamics in each case. Emphasis is placed on impact and one dimensional wave propagation before extending the study into three dimensions. Robotics is then looked at in det.

Summary
While there are plenty of books offering advice about how to age, none takes the crucial step back to challenge how people think about aginguntil now. The Aging Syndrome, the core idea in this book, explains the aging process by using three pillars: intrinsic aging, the aging process that no one understands; disuse, both physical and mental; and chronic disease processes, which begin in childhood or sometimes in the womb. Using practical steps and plain language, this volume is the only guide needed for developing a plan for growing older. By presenting a better way to think about aging, it reveals what everyone can do to live a longer life.

Summary
Some of today's most prominent experts on the American presidency offer their perspectives, commentary, and analyses in this volume of studies, commissioned by the Fulbright Institute of International Relations and the Blair Center of Southern Politics and Culture, both at the University of Arkansas. With a shared focus on Bush's decision-making style, the impact of increasing partisanship, economic issues-especially after the 2008 financial meltdown-and, of course, the cumulative impact of 9/11 and the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, the contributors link their observations and.
