Summary
This DVD explains how to implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices by showing the stages of this process using real Australian manufacturing workplace examples. The DVD shows the process of how a manufacturing business can look for, and put into practice, ways of using less electricity, gas and fuel, water and raw materials and create less waste during the production process. By collecting baseline data, areas for improvement are chosen and targets are set. The information that is recorded and monitored will clearly show improvements made and money saved. The DVD also has case studies of four Australian manufacturing businesses that have put into place recording and monitoring processes, and changed work practices, that have resulted in ongoing financial and environmental savings. Environmentally sustainable work practices are an integral part of innovation and continuous improvement in lean manufacturing.

Summary
It has been assumed that mere awareness of the causes of environmental degradation will not motivate citizens to reduce pollution. Here the authors counter-argue that most citizens are willing to contribute voluntarily towards safeguarding the environment, but that their willingness depends on the social context of the problem they face.

Summary
Our current industrial method of food production is increasingly viewed as an unsustainable system, destructive to the environment and public health. But what is the alternative? Fresh profiles the farmers, thinkers, and business people across the nation who are at the forefront of re-inventing food production in America. With a strong commitment to sustainability, they are changing how farms are run, how the land is cared for, and how food is distributed. Their success demonstrates that a new paradigm based on sustainable practices can be profitable and a model for our food system, if people choose to support it. Fresh opens with a short summary of the problems and consequences of industrialized food production, then focuses primarily on the individuals who are creating new approaches to address environmental, health, and economic challenges throughout the food chain. Joel Salatin is a world-famous sustainable farmer and entrepreneur who, by observing nature, devised a rotational grazing system for his animals that heals the land while making his operations many times more profitable than his conventional farming neighbors. Will Allen, a former pro basketball player and recipient of a Macarthur "Genius Award", is now one of the most influential leaders of the urban farming movement. He teaches people in the inner city the value of healthy food and how to grow their own. David Ball saw his family-run supermarket and a once-thriving local farming community dying with the rise of Walmart and other big chains. So he reinvented his business, partnering with area farmers to sell locally-grown food at an affordable price. His plan has brought the local economy back to life. Fresh also features a farmer in Iowa who illustrates the struggles family farmers face, a hog farmer in Missouri who stopped using antibiotics on his pigs, and commentary by noted food expert and author Michael Pollan.

Summary
"As climate disruption intensifies the world over, Californians are finding solutions across a diversity of communities and landscapes. Though climate change is a global existential threat, we cannot wait for nation states to solve the problem when there are actions we can take now to protect our own communities. In Climate Stewardship: Taking Collective Action to Protect California, readers are invited on a journey to discover that all life is interconnected and shaped by climate and how communities can help tackle climate change. Climate Stewardship shares stories from everyday people and shows how these actions enhance the resilience of communities and ecosystems across 10 distinct bioregions. Climate science that justifies these actions is woven throughout, making it easy to learn about Earth's complex systems. The authors interpret and communicate these stories in a way that is enjoyable, inspiring, and even amusing. California is uniquely positioned to develop and implement novel solutions to widespread climate challenges, owing to the state's remarkable biogeographic diversity and robust public science programs. Produced in collaboration with the UC California Naturalist Program, Climate Stewardship focuses on regenerative approaches to energy, agriculture, land and water use across forested, agricultural, and urban landscapes. Because of the hopeful and encouraging tone of the book, readers may also develop a sense that they, too, can act now to make meaningful change in their communities"--
