Summary
This book traces the origins of the 'iron rice bowl' of comprehensive cradle-to-grave benefits and lifetime employment in Chinese factories. It suggests that, in some ways, the Chinese revolution in 1949 was not as revolutionary as most have thought.

Summary
Sustainable Industrial Design and Waste Management was inspired by the need to have a text that enveloped awareness and solutions to the ongoing issues and concerns of waste generated from industry. The development of science and technology has increased human capacity to extract resources from nature and it is only recently that industries are being held accountable for the detrimental effects the waste they produce has on the environment. Increased governmental research, regulation and corporate accountability are digging up issues pertaining to pollution control and waste treatment and environmental protection. The traditional approach for clinical waste, agricultural waste, industrial waste, and municipal waste are depleting our natural resources. The main objective of this book is to conserve the natural resources by approaching 100 % full utilization of all types of wastes by cradle - to - cradle concepts, using Industrial Ecology methodology documented with case studies. Sustainable development and environmental protection cannot be achieved without establishing the concept of industrial ecology. The main tools necessary for establishing Industrial Ecology and sustainable development will be covered in the book. The concept of "industrial ecology? will help the industrial system to be managed and operated more or less like a natural ecosystem hence causing as less damage as possible to the surrounding environment.

Summary
"This book shows how stakeholders - from employees to local communities and NGOs - are becoming a new, and fast growing, source of business advantage. While short-term profits are still the focus for many Fortune 500 companies, others have recognized that a broad range of stakeholders contribute to enduring innovation and business value. The "how-to" section with a tool-kit for managers elevates it above other recent ecofriendly business books, by providing eight disciplines necessary to create value for shareholders and stakeholders."--Jacket.

Summary
Drucker was timely and inopportune at the same time. It is clear that from his extensive, solid and continual formation there has been born a singular, and at the same time multi-faceted, philosophy, which is deliberately difficult to summarize. Drucker was one of the first, if not the first, to discover the imminence of this far-reaching change. Precisely because he is not a specialist, he was able to perceive details and nuances that had been missed by the great gurus of management. This is why Drucker is considered to be the forerunner of modern management, as well as other concepts. This book shows the lesser-known side of Peter Drucker as far as his views on his own ideas are concerned. Drucker is most commonly thought of as a management theoretician; undoubtedly this is the most well known dimension of his work. What could be considered new and useful is that Drucker's aim was to write about man in his (man's own) social context. Drucker poured and concentrated his knowledge on man and organizations, drawing from what he learned from his European background and after expanded and practically texted in his American years.
