Michael and Karma Glos began their small, diversified organic farm in Berkshire, New York, located 20 miles east of Ithaca, in 1996. Since then, three of those years have included commercial operations. They specialize in producing free-range organic meat (poultry, pork, beef) and organic herbs and specialty vegetables, and are certified by NOFA-NY Certified Organic LLC. All the vegetables, herbs and poultry are certified; the pork and beef are raised according to organic standards after 6 weeks of age. The Glos' launched their business with no formal training, but relied on a love of farming and their experiences as farming apprentices.

Summary
Effective performance appraisals add value to your organization. They motivate your top employees to do even better. And they tell under-performers exactly what is expected and how to improve. Unfortunately, performance appraisals are often regarded as mere formalities. Reviews are sometimes done late-or skipped. Clear guidance falls by the wayside, and halfhearted work goes unchallenged. In this video, you'll follow two story lines. One involves a small business, taking steps to formalize a review process for the first time. The other presents a large corporation attempting to energize an existing system. Watch as two very different managers prepare for challenging review meetings-and see them apply skills that defuse tension and achieve the desired results.

Summary
Hamdi Ulukaya is a Turkish American entrepreneur and businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Chobani, the number one-selling Greek yogurt brand in the U.S. Originating from a Kurdish dairy-farming family in a small village in Turkey, Ulukaya came to the U.S. in 1994 to study English and took a few business courses as well. He started a modest feta-cheese factory in 2002 on the advice of his father, but his real success came from taking a major risk: purchasing a large defunct yogurt factory in upstate New York in 2005. With no prior experience in the yogurt business, he created a yogurt empire, Chobani, that went from zero to over $1 billion in annual sales in less than five years, becoming the leading yogurt brand in the U.S. by 2011. Ernst & Young named Ulukaya the World Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013.

Summary
Getting a job is one of life's big challenges. But how does it look from the employers' point of view? This documentary looks at how a small business, a hospital, and a supermarket recruit their staff. SMALL BUSINESS: Small business SNS supplies computer networks to schools and has to work out their job specification for a new position from scratch. They advertise the job by means of word of mouth and look at how well presented the applicants' letters and CVs are. HOSPITAL: East Kent and Canterbury hospital is looking to fill a vacancy for an office job with important responsibilities - ensuring cancer patients get their treatment on time. Unlike the small business, the hospital advertises the job both in the local newspaper and internally - and the wording of the ad is a crucial consideration. SUPERMARKET: Giant supermarket Asda asks its candidates to fill in an application form - except it's more like a questionnaire designed to weed out people with the wrong personality. Asda also asks candidates to come to a group assessment which involves a form of psychometric testing. THE INTERVIEW: All three organisations make their final decisions at the interview stage. The small business interviewers mark their candidates under particular headings, such as enthusiasm and leadership. The hospital puts a lot of store by supporting statements. In the supermarket, body language and appearance turn out to be important factors.
