Success in the "last mile" of a global health initiative requires laying a strong foundation in the "first mile," when organizational roles, goals, and strategies are developed. This practical handbook from the Task Force for Global Health lays out the steps that transform coordination of isolated efforts into cooperation and then into true collaboration. Case studies from a variety of major partnerships between governmental, nongovernmental, and for-profit organizations show to how to set the groundwork for successful collaboration and how to see projects through to the achievement of their goals. The last chapters of the book are a "toolkit" for getting started, managing and providing leadership during "the journey," ending well, and working with donors. The book is bundled with a DVD that contains a brief video about the collaborative process and writeable PDF copies of the "toolkit" chapters. Summing Up: Recommended.
