Summary
Hamdi Ulukaya is a Turkish American entrepreneur and businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Chobani, the number one-selling Greek yogurt brand in the U.S. Originating from a Kurdish dairy-farming family in a small village in Turkey, Ulukaya came to the U.S. in 1994 to study English and took a few business courses as well. He started a modest feta-cheese factory in 2002 on the advice of his father, but his real success came from taking a major risk: purchasing a large defunct yogurt factory in upstate New York in 2005. With no prior experience in the yogurt business, he created a yogurt empire, Chobani, that went from zero to over $1 billion in annual sales in less than five years, becoming the leading yogurt brand in the U.S. by 2011. Ernst & Young named Ulukaya the World Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013.

Summary
Some people act on their life-long dreams and decide to open a restaurant. Many of these aspiring restaurateurs are engaging in this activity for the first time, and unfortunately they are at a greater risk for making mistakes that could unnecessarily doom their fledgling business from the start. Many of these mistakes, however, are avoidable. The shelves are full of books about restaurants. Some offer advice on operations and menu planning. Some contain inspiring photographs of interior and exterior spaces. Others share the details behind one concept or individual's success story. But comprehensive information available on the restaurant development process is limited. The establishment of a new restaurant concept is full of emotion, surprise, frustration, risk, and satisfaction that simply cannot be conveyed in a textbook format. The Restaurant Dream? is based on a true account of one team?s efforts to develop a restaurant concept from the ground up. All aspects of the development process, from the initial idea - through design, construction, opening, and the first months of operations, are covered. It is written in the form of a story, which interweaves educational material with real-life events and the unexpected twists and turns that seemed to exist around almost every corner. From elation to deception and camaraderie to lawsuits, this book shows that the surreal components of opening a restaurant are not uncommon?they are just not frequently shared. The Restaurant Dream? shares strategies, logic, successes, and failures so that the aspiring restaurateur may learn from this effort and improve their own likelihood for success. Summary
Simply put, most entrepreneurial start-ups fail. Those fortunate enough to succeed then face a second, major challenge: how to grow. This book focuses on the key questions an entrepreneur must answer in order to grow a business. Based on extensive research of more than fifty successful growth companies, Grow to Greatness discusses the top ten growth challenges and how to overcome them. Author Edward D. Hess dispels the myth that businesses must grow or die. Growth can create value. But, too much growth too fast outstrips effective processes, controls, or management capacity. Viewing growth as "recurring change," Grow to Greatness lays out a framework for how to approach business development--and how to manage its risks and pace. The book then takes readers through chapters that explore whether the time is right to grow, how to do it, and how to manage the vital reality that growth requires the right leadership, culture, and people. Uniquely, this book aims to prepare readers for the day-to-day reality of growth, offering up the lived experiences of eleven entrepreneurs. Six workshops to assess where readers stand now and a suite of templates that will prove to be useful over time help bring the book's teachings to life. After reading this book, entrepreneurs will have a real understanding of their readiness to grow and place in the growth cycle, as well as a concrete action plan for where to take their businesses next. Many books address how to start a business, but this is a unique, go-to resource for readers who want to learn how to thrive beyond the start-up phase.
