Miziker designs and produces attractions, shows, and events, from Super Bowl half-time shows to state funerals. Two-thirds of the book consists of an alphabetical listing of terms with brief definitions. Many terms include useful tips such as planning event security or setting up registration tables. Selecting the correct word is key; there is no entry under food or lunch, but there are entries for buffet, canapés, and dinner. The most accessible information lies in the last third of the book in a section called "Tables and Techniques." These entries cover such aspects of entertaining as an explanation of standard bar tools, a guide to wine types, serving portions for different types of food, napkin folding, and spatial area required per person. There is no index, but the "Tables and Techniques" topics provide see also references to the alphabetical entries. The book ends with a list of useful websites and a succinct bibliography. Beyond weddings, content steers clear of specific religious events such as christenings, bar and bat mitzvahs, or funerals. Particularly relevant for hospitality collections, this work will also be useful for amateurs responsible for event planning. Summing Up: Recommended. All libraries/levels. --Teresa R.
