Her research interests include archaeological museums in the Middle East, the role of museums in fostering understanding in divided societies, heritage in the Arab World and tourism in developing countries.

As part of Channel View Publications's "Tourism and Cultural Change" series, this collection focuses on the critical relationship between archaeology, tourism, and heritage. In the opening chapter, editors Timothy (Arizona State Univ.) and Tahan (Univ. of Cambridge, UK) provide an introduction titled "Consuming, Managing and Protecting the Human Past" that identifies key issues to be addressed, including tourism growth and niche marketing, destruction of heritage, and politics of the past. Once these conceptual themes have been established to foreground the relationship between archaeology, tourism, and heritage, they are elaborated in 11 chapters by scholars from relevant fields, including anthropology, archaeology, tourism, and cultural management. In the concluding chapter, "Understanding Perspectives on Archaeology and Tourism," the editors address the critical issues and challenges, recognizing the profound importance of archaeology as a priceless heritage resource and an asset for tourism and national pride, while also acknowledging the need for more research into the complex relationship between archaeology, tourism, and heritage.
