The volume begins with an introduction to establish an understanding of terms used throughout the text, as well as a discussion to convey the scope, scale, and settings mentioned. From that point, the authors differentiate between various forms of trails and their users and delve into topics of supply (e.g., tourism planning) and demand (e.g., use, trends, and barriers). The final portion of the text includes practical implications for managers and a look to the future concerning potential research lines. The book is filled with international case studies that serve as examples of the content discussed. Readers will note this deliberate focus and the care taken by the authors to provide a holistic approach to the subject matter.
