This volume is part of a Springer series that includes 101 Careers in Mathematics, edited by A. Sterrett (CH, Mar'97, 34-3917); and 101 Careers in Nursing, edited by J. M. Novotny (CH, Feb'04, 41-3469). Hodges (Antioch Univ. New England) has a diverse counseling background, and this vast experience is evident throughout the book. In a direct and informative manner he describes each counseling profession under such headings as "Core Competencies and Skills," "Best Aspects of the Job," and "Occupational Outlook and Salary." Here readers will see descriptions of counselors as they work in schools, hospitals, outpatient offices, health care agencies, and prisons.
