Excerpts

Granny's Country Biscuits 1 cup flour 3 heaping teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons shortening 1 cup milk or buttermilk Preheat kitchen oven to 300 degrees. Grease a baking sheet. In a medium bowl, mix together the dry ingredients and then cut in the shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the milk and mix well. If necessary, add enough flour to make a firm dough. Turn out of bowl onto a floured cutting board and pat out to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut in any shape, place on prepared baking sheet, and bake for about 15-20 minutes. When you can smell the bread, you know it's done. Makes 10-12 biscuits.
