Summary
Current Trends in Narratology offers an overview of cutting-edge approaches to theories of storytelling. It describes the move to cognition, the new emphasis on non-prose and multimedia narratives, and introduces a third field of research - comparative narratology. This research addresses how local institutions and national approaches have affected the development of narratology. Leading researchers detail their newest scholarship while placing it within the scope of larger international trends.

Summary
Think tanks and research organizations set out to influence policy ideas and decisions-a goal that is key to the very fabric of these organizations. And yet, the ways that they actually achieve impact or measure progress along these lines remains fuzzy and underexplored. What Should Think Tanks Do? A Strategic Guide for Policy Impact is the first practical guide that is specifically tailored to think tanks, policy research, and advocacy organizations. Author Andrew Selee draws on extensive interviews with members of leading think tanks, as well as cutting-edge thinking in business.

Summary
Molecular machines are complex biomolecules, proteins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates that consume energy in order to perform specific functions. The concerted action of all those machines underlies all the activities of the living cell. To understand how such molecular machines are able to perform their function, it is necessary to identify the different moving parts and understand how they act together. Breaking new ground with these difficult problems is likely to require novel paradigms permitting a seamless integration of structural, dynamical and functional data from experiments and theory. The goal of this volume is to provide an introduction to the world of biological molecular machines to a broad audience of students and researchers in biosciences. Each chapter is written by leading experts to cover results from cutting-edge research, while remaining broadly accessible. The volume presents the current state of knowledge for several important systems, ranging from polymerases, the ribosome, chaperonins, the chromatophore, kinases, actin and myosin, membrane transporters, and voltage-gated ion channels, thus giving students and researches in biosciences a pedagogically integrated picture of this exciting and rapidly expanding field.

Summary
"Interest in the anthropology of food has grown significantly in recent years. This is the first handbook to provide a detailed overview of all major areas of the field. Twenty original essays by leading figures in the discipline examine traditional areas of research as well as cutting-edge areas of inquiry. Divided into three parts -- Food, Self and Others; Food Security, Nutrition and Food Safety; Food as Craft, Industry and Ethics -- the book covers topics such as identity, commensality, locality, migration, ethical consumption, artisanal foods, and children's food. Each chapter features rich ethnography alongside wider analysis of the subject. Internationally renowned scholars offer insights into their core areas of specialty. Examples include Michael Herzfeld on culinary stereotypes, David Sutton on how to conduct an anthropology of cooking, Johan Pottier on food insecurity, and Melissa Caldwell on practicing food anthropology. The book also features exceptional geographic and cultural diversity, with chapters on South Asia, South Africa, the United States of America, post-socialist societies, Maoist China, and Muslim and Jewish foodways. Invaluable as a reference as well as for teaching, The Handbook of Food and Anthropology serves to define this increasingly important field. An essential resource for researchers and students in anthropology and food studies."--Bloomsbury Publishing.

Summary
There is increasing pressure to protect computer networks against unauthorized intrusion, and some work in this area is concerned with engineering systems that are robust to attack. However, no system can be made invulnerable. Data Analysis for Network Cyber-Security focuses on monitoring and analyzing network traffic data, with the intention of preventing, or quickly identifying, malicious activity. Such work involves the intersection of statistics, data mining and computer science. Fundamentally, network traffic is relational, embodying a link between devices. As such, graph analysis approaches are a natural candidate. However, such methods do not scale well to the demands of real problems, and the critical aspect of the timing of communications events is not accounted for in these approaches. This book gathers papers from leading researchers to provide both background to the problems and a description of cutting-edge methodology. The contributors are from diverse institutions and areas of expertise and were brought together at a workshop held at the University of Bristol in March 2013 to address the issues of network cyber security. The workshop was supported by the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research.
