The 22 chapters in this new edition (1st ed., 1982) cover such topics as energy; auditing; economic analysis; boilers and fired systems; cogeneration; waste heat recovery; heating, ventilating, and air conditioning; electric energy management; energy system maintenance; use of alternative energy; fleet management; codes and legislation; and natural gas purchasing. Unlike some handbooks, this one consists mainly of written explanations rather than a collection of extensive data. However, the appendixes include tables of thermodynamic data on common fluids along with reviews of thermal and electrical sciences. Authors are active professionals in the areas about which they write, the information included is current, and the writing is generally direct and easily understood.
