The authors cover the causes of high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease, as well as outlining ways "to look after your heart," and providing an extensive list of individual heart-healthy foods (including chicken, chocolate, and wine-in moderation) and supplementary serving-size suggestions. Recipes range from the simple and easy-to-source-such as grilled salmon with a dill risotto or a couscous, pork, and pomegranate salad-to more complicated fare dependent on harder to find ingredients, like an eggplant dip with pita chips sprinkled with za'atar, or barbecued chermoula-spiced lamb with burghul. These more exotic elements may be ubiquitous in the authors' native Australia, but folks outside of big U.S. cities will likely need to rely on digital shopping carts to fill their pantries. While the shear amount of information may overwhelm some readers, those who heed Senior and Cuskelly's advice will glean more than enough know-how to develop a diet plan that suits their lifestyle-and their palate.
