Résumé
Wave Rider is about leveraging the power of self-organization for high performance in all sizes and types of organizations. Harrison Owen the originator of the internationally popular Open Space Technology organizational change method, shows that self-organization is the most powerful force in organizations??? but a force that is often muffled by well meaning yet constricting management and leadership practices. Using his unique and interesting folksy writing style he reveals that self-organization is the magic behind the immense success of Open Space Technology, and he applies the principles.

Résumé
"Today's digital economy is uniquely dependent on the Internet, yet few users or decision makers have more than a rudimentary understanding of the myriad of online risks that threaten us. Cyber crime is one of the main threats to the integrity and availability of data and systems. From insiders to complex external attacks and industrial worms, modern business faces unprecedented challenges; and while cyber security and digital intelligence are the necessary responses to this challenge, they are understood by only a tiny minority. In his second book on high-tech risks, Mark Johnson goes far beyond enumerating past cases and summarising legal or regulatory requirements. He describes in plain, non-technical language how cyber crime has evolved and the nature of the very latest threats. He confronts issues that are not addressed by codified rules and practice guidelines, supporting this with over 30 valuable illustrations and tables. Written for the non-technical layman and the high tech risk manager alike, the book also explores countermeasures, penetration testing, best practice principles, cyber conflict and future challenges. A discussion of Web 2.0 risks delves into the very real questions facing policy makers, along with the pros and cons of open source data. In a chapter on Digital Intelligence readers are provided with an exhaustive guide to practical, effective and ethical online investigations. Cyber Crime, Security and Digital Intelligence is an important work of great relevance in today's interconnected world and one that nobody with an interest in either risk or technology should be without."--Unedited summary from book.

Résumé
"Reconstructing Value prepares contemporary business leaders for the increasingly important task of developing a sustainability vision and translating it across levels in an organization. The book is based on insights gained over the past decade from research involving hundreds of practitioners, front line managers to senior executives, who have been working to integrate sustainability within their organizations. It illustrates how building capacity for managing the complex issues of sustainability requires key process skills that leaders need to develop. This book equips readers to respond to the risks and opportunities presented by global sustainability issues and reinvent new ways of doing business that will enhance organizational effectiveness while also building a more sustainable world. Each chapter includes process questions to guide reflective practice and to build the requisite leadership capabilities for turning a sustainability vision into a value-added organizational strategy. Reconstructing Value helps readers to build integrative thinking skills - such as how to engage critical, complexity, strategic and design thinking capabilities to enable organizational change - that can assist them with becoming successful sustainability champions within their organizations."--Pub. desc.

Résumé
"Winner of the 2018 Paul M. Sweezy--Paul A. Baran Memorial Award for original work regarding the political economy of imperialism, 'Value Chains' examines the exploitation of labor in the Global South. Focusing on the issue of labor within global value chains, this book offers a deft empirical analysis of unit labor costs that is closely related to Marx's own theory of exploitation. 'Value Chains' uncovers the concrete processes through which multinational corporations, located primarily in the Global North, capture value from the Global South. We are brought face to face with various state-of-the-art corporate strategies that enforce "economical" and "flexible" production, including labor management methods, aimed to reassert the imperial dominance of the North, while continuing the dependency of the Global South and polarizing the global economy. Case studies of Indonesian suppliers exemplify the growing burden borne by the workers of the Global South, whose labor creates the surplus value that enriches the capitalists of the North, as well as the secondary capitals of the South. Today, those who control the value chains and siphon off the profits are primarily financial interests with vast economic and political power--the power that must be broken if the global working class is to liberate itself. Suwandi's book depicts in concrete detail the relations of unequal exchange that structure today's world economy. This study, up-to-date and richly documented, puts labor and class back at the center of our understanding of the world capitalist system."--

Résumé
Examples of the value that can be created and captured through crowdsourcing go back to at least 1714 when the UK used crowdsourcing to solve the Longitude Problem, obtaining a solution that would enable the UK to become the dominant maritime force of its time. Today, Wikipedia uses crowds to provide entries for the world's largest and free encyclopedia. Partly fuelled by the value that can be created and captured through crowdsourcing, interest in researching the phenomenon has been remarkable. Despite this - or perhaps because of it - research into crowdsourcing has been conducted in different research silos, within the fields of management (from strategy to finance to operations to information systems), biology, communications, computer science, economics, political science, among others.
