And then it's too late. This practical programme demonstrates the core health and safety issues that affect us all, such as lifting things, and shows why being careful has to become second nature even when we're really busy. The key message is that we have to take responsibility for our own safety, and the safety of others, at all times. Using Rick Stein's Seafood restaurant and hotel business as a case study, the programme demonstrates how health and safety procedures and principles involve people from different parts of the business - chefs, waiters, admin staff, cleaners, and drivers. It covers three main areas of health and safety at work: manual handling; fire; slips, trips, cuts and burns.
Format: Other
ClickView Player
Hotel / Joanna Walsh. ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:296521 2024-05-06T15:07:19Z 2024-05-06T15:07:19Z by Walsh, Joanna, author.
Call Number 657.8374 23
Publication Date 2015
Summary Under the banner 'in a room anything can happen', 'Hotel' shows eighteen characters simultaneously experiencing one night in the same hotel. They include two sets of tourists, a couple having an affair, a gay couple, a businessman and a single woman. During the breakdown of an unhappy marriage, writer Joanna Walsh got a job as a hotel reviewer, and began to gravitate towards places designed as alternatives to home. Luxury, sex, power, anonymity, privacy?hotels are where our desires go on holiday, but also places where our desires are shaped by the hard realities of the marketplace. Part memoir and part meditation, this book visits a series of rooms, suites, hallways, and lobbies-the spaces and things that make up these modern sites of gathering and alienation, hotels.
Format: Electronic Resources
Newfoundland [electronic resource] / [Barbara Radcliffe Rogers & Stillman Rogers]. ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:245542 2024-05-06T15:07:19Z 2024-05-06T15:07:19Z by Rogers, Barbara Radcliffe.
Call Number 917.18 22
Publication Date 2009
Summary Annotation This deals mainly with Canada's Newfoundland province, the sights, the activities, where to stay and much more. It is based on our much larger guide to all the Atlantic Provinces. Hiking, trout and salmon fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, cycling, kayaking, exploring, puffin spotting? discover all these adventures and more in a world of pristine waters, rugged slopes, breathtaking seascapes, sophisticated cities, historic towns and remote wilderness areas. The book also offers details on the local wildlife, including moose, caribou, bears, seals and whales. Complete restaurant and hotel information. Photos and maps. In planning a trip to this area (somewhere I have never been) I used this book extensively. We enjoy hiking, kayaking and general sight-seeing. This book not only provided information on outdoor activities but also on lodging, dining and driving as well as the history of the areas. It provides a wealth of information and made our stay much more enjoyable than if we just went there not knowing anything. We brought it along and it was a very important reference for us as we toured the province. I highly recommend it. After reading several travel books, this was the best one and the only one we took on our trip. -- DM Dugan. This book is excellent. What I particularly liked was that it mentioned small walks that can be taken in the areas that we visited, as well as archeological sites and wildlife viewing areas, all in my areas of interest. -- Sheila Ferrari.
