Therefore it was decided to write Shipping in 1996. One year earlier, Niko Wijnolst had published Design Innovation in Shipping, based on work at the Delft University of Technology. The two books together offered a comprehensive insight and overview into the dynamics of global shipping and maritime innovation. Although the core of the books held its value, it was decided to make an update of the two books and merge thm into one new textbook, Shipping Innovation, destined for a broad spectre of maritime students and professionals. Some substantial new parts were added, as well as some new contributions by other writers. This textbook offers a one-stop-shopping experiene to those students and professionals who wish to get acquainted with the multifaceted aspects of global shipping and its everlasting innovation dynamics. Some of the new contributions are the mission-based design process of a Panamax containership and a o-ro vessel; sustainable shipping and innovation; and an innovation case-study on the revolutionary design of a ballast-free ship. -- 'Shipping Innovation is a remarkable book. It deserves to become a standard text for students and professionals alike, cobining as it does both commercial and technical topics into one coherent whole.' - Paul Gunton, Fairplay.co.uk.
Format: Electronic Resources
Advances in home care technologies [electronic resource] : results of the MATCH Project / edited by Kenneth J. Research suggests that this may result from their 'wounds of war'. Some wounds may be 'invisible', such as depression, stress, and chronic pain, while others, such as physical disabilities, are more obvious. In February 2011, 35 scientists and representatives from NATO and Partner countries met in Vienna, Austria for a three-day NATO Advanced Research Workshop entitled "Wounds of War: Coping with Blast-Related Traumatic Brain Injury in Re.
Format: Electronic Resources
Challenges for assistive technology [electronic resource] : AAATE 07 / edited by Gorka Eizmendi, José Miguel Azkoitia and Gerald Craddock.ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:2381712024-05-18T07:56:58Z2024-05-18T07:56:58Zby AAATE (Conference) (9th : 2007 : San Sebastián, Spain)
Call Number 681.761 22
Publication Date 2007
Summary In the 21st century Assistive Technology (AT) should be defined as a scientific and technologic approach to the development of products and services oriented to support the elderly and people with disabilities in their daily activities, maximizing their personal autonomy, independence, health and quality of life.
Format: Electronic Resources
Aging, Disability and Independence : Selected Papers from the 4th International Conference on Aging, Disability and Independence (2008) / Edited by William C. Though much has been achieved since the publication of two related volumes earlier in this series: Positron Solid State Physics (1981) and Positron Spectroscopy of Solids (1993), only the first steps have been made towards 'physics with many positrons': physical situations where the interactions of positrons with positrons can be observed.
